Gurugram, 4 December (IANS). Gurugram police arrested a man for trying to clone an ATM card. Officials gave this information on Friday.
The accused has been identified as Sharafuddin.
The victim Raj Kumar told the police that on Thursday he went to an ATM booth on Mehrauli-Gurugram Road near Sukhrali village to withdraw Rs 500 from his account.
He said, at the same time, a person entered the ATM kiosk and asked me to insert my card inside the machine and then press the cancel button, which I did. After this, two more people came inside the ATM booth and asked me to repeat the same. He said that there is a scheme going on. After some time, one of the accused took my card and said that it has been canceled and then left.
Fearing some fraud the victim contacted his bank and informed him that there was a withdrawal of Rs 10,000 from his account.
Rajkumar told the police, the bank employee informed the victim that the money had been withdrawn from the Sector-17A market. The victim immediately reached the market, where the trio, upon seeing the victim, tried to flee from the spot, but the victim apprehended one of the accused.
Gurugram Police spokesperson Subhash Bokain said, a case has been registered in this regard under related sections of IPC at Sadar Police Station. Further action is being taken to nab the other two accused.
