At what magnitude do dogs react to earthquakes? Every year we experience many uncontrollable natural attacks, such as earthquakes, floods, etc. During natural disasters, we also have to face the pain of losing our loved ones and homes. However, with the advancement of science and technology, we can predict the arrival of earthquakes in advance and take corresponding protective measures. So how did we predict in advance? Dogs can actually predict earthquakes, but they are divided into levels. Let’s take a look at what will happen to dogs during an earthquake.

Dogs react to earthquakes of magnitude 2 or above. Because dogs have a strong sense of nature, they will react accordingly. The physical and chemical changes (vibration, electricity, magnetism, meteorology, abnormal water radon content, etc.) caused by earthquakes, and human senses can directly detect the earthquake precursors are called macro-precursors of earthquakes, or macro-precursors for short. The more common ones include sudden rise and fall of well water, changes in color and taste, bubbling, rising and falling temperatures, sudden changes in spring water flow, sudden changes in hot spring water temperature, abnormal animal habits, and the sound and light of the ground before an earthquake.

Certain organs of many animals are particularly sensitive, and they can know the occurrence of some disaster events in advance than humans. Before the earthquake, the underground rock formations had been moving slowly day by day, showing a creeping state, and there was strong friction between the fault planes. Therefore, some people believe that a low-frequency sound wave that is only a few to ten times per second and is lower than what human hearing can detect will be generated on the friction fault planes. Humans can only feel sound waves more than 20 times per second, but animals cannot. Those animals with very sensitive senses will be extremely frightened and agitated when they feel this kind of sound wave, leading to abnormal phenomena such as winter snakes coming out of their holes, fish leaping out of the water, pigs and cows jumping in circles, seeing deep-water fish or strange fish schools in shallow seas, chickens flying around, and dogs jumping around.

Because dogs have sensitive hearing and smell and can sense abnormalities in their environment in advance, dogs can predict the occurrence of earthquakes. Abnormal behaviors of dogs before the earthquake include barking, crying, sniffing and scratching the ground, biting, running around, moving with puppies in their mouths, and police dogs not listening to instructions.

Okay, the above is a simple sharing, let’s take a look.
