About two months ago, four gray kittens were brought to the Arlington Animal Welfare League (AWLA) in need of foster homes. They were found wandering outside by rescuers when they were about a week old.
One of them has a rough and thin shape, with an overall skinny and weak appearance. Critical care by experienced nursing staff is urgently needed. AWLA's Penny Richards stepped up and volunteered to save the four kittens.

She placed the kittens in an incubator so they could stay warm and comfortable since they seemed too small to regulate their own body temperature. After her body temperature stabilized, Penny gently washed the weak kitten Twiglet's fur and fed her regular nutritious food to slowly build up her strength and weight.
The remaining three, Cherry Bakewell, Jaffa Cake and Jammy Dodger, cheered Twiglet on with snuggles and tiny purrs, as if to help her recover. It is said that a cat's purr can heal itself. While doing so they also get a beating heart to cling to, as if to mimic the presence of a mother cat.
Twenty-four hours after arriving at the rescue center, Twiglet gained more than 20 grams of weight through nutritious food, as well as some newfound strength. At this point, she can rest comfortably without the nasty stains on her body.

Over the next few days, her health continued to make good progress and her appetite began to soar. "She turned around very quickly - within the first week she was with me, she doubled in size overall, gained a lot of energy, and her body felt healthy to us," Penny told colleagues.
Whenever Penny comes in with a bottle of food, the four little cuties will use their voices very hard to attract attention. "They talk loudly when they are hungry, and they are satisfied when they are full."
When their bodies recover and their size is large enough, they can leave, and their new life will be arranged and upgraded. A few of them were smart enough to find their litter box easily, and then the rest followed.
Little ones love to cuddle and nap, but as soon as Penny comes in, they swarm over and snuggle into her lap for a nap.

Jammie Dodger is a gentle little giant, an independent "big sister", and she saves all the best hugs for it when it is sleepy.
Jaffacake is the loudest and mischievous little one of them all, and a true clingy kitten. "He does all his running around my legs, but he also likes to attack anything that moves. He likes to stare at his owner with those sad little kitten eyes to get what he wants."
Cherry Bakewell is a mature and stable cat who reveled in their place. Bakewell is an avid shoulder climber and enjoys climbing on people to get up close and personal with them.
"Jaffa Cake and Cherry Bakewell are like two peas in a pod. It feels like they have to lie on me all the time.
Twiglet has a quiet, sweet personality." Penny often walks among this group of pets and likes them to run around her purring.

As they roam around the house, Twiglet always carefully descends the stairs, making sure her siblings are always nearby. If they run ahead and she can't find them, she will meow a little until she finds them, just like a big sister.
The four of them are a close-knit group of companions who feel like they spend all their time with each other, so Penny suggests that they be split into two groups for adoption.
After experiencing a difficult life and being rescued by an agency, these kittens have grown strong and healthy and are now ready to start their happy life.
