Sometimes you will encounter wild cats on the way home, whether they are adult cats or milk cats. Many people want to bring them back, but they are worried that there will be a series of problems. So let’s talk about what to do if you pick up stray kittens?
1. Physical examination
Because it is impossible to know the physical condition of a stray kitten by relying on the naked eye alone, the owner needs to take the kitten to the pet hospital for basic examination first. For example: screening of infectious diseases, whether there are parasites in feces, whether there are skin diseases, and infectious disease antibodies, etc. Especially if you already have other pets at home, it is best to isolate the stray kitten for about a week before taking it home to avoid potentially infectious diseases and infect other cats.
2. After deworming and vaccination, if the kitten does not experience abnormalities and is over two months old, it can be vaccinated for immunization and deworming. It should be noted that the dosage of drugs should be controlled to avoid harming the cat. It is usually recommended to perform internal and external deworming once a month during childhood, external deworming once a month after adulthood, and internal deworming once a month after adulthood.
3. Take care of yourself or seek adoption
After completing the above steps, if you want to take care of the cat by yourself, you can prepare some daily necessities for it, mainly cat cages, cat litter box, cat litter shovel, cat food, water bowl, food bowl, etc. If there are other cats at home, it is recommended to isolate them for about half a month to allow the kitten to have a familiar process with the indigenous people. If you don’t plan to raise a cat, you can put the information on the cat on the pet adoption platform to find it, or you can go to the pet hospital to ask them to help find it.
