According to the Times, Skelly is about to renew his contract with Arsenal, which means his salary will rise sharply, becoming one of the highest-paid young players in the world football world, thanks to his outstanding performance in the 2024-25 season.

Arsenal coach Arteta played a key role in negotiations for renewal with Skelly, and he was close to the 18-year-old. Skelly's mother Marcia Lewis is in charge of negotiations for her son's contract renewal.

In October 2023, Skelly, who had just turned 17, signed his first professional contract with Arsenal. According to the FA, the contract period for players under the age of 18 shall not exceed 3 years.

Last September, Skelly made his debut for the first team against Manchester City. Although he can also be competent for midfield positions, Arteta mainly lets Skeley play left-back. Throughout the 2024-25 season, he played 39 games for Arsenal, helping the team reach the Champions League semi-finals.

In the World Cup in March this year, Skelli was recruited by Tuchel to the England national team and scored his first goal in the Three Lions against Latvia. He became the youngest goalkeeper in England's history at the age of 18 and 176 days.
