China's independent processor manufacturer Longxin Zhongke announced that its first display card 9A1000 has completed research and development and is expected to enter the tapeout stage in the third quarter of this year.
Unlike the game cards we are familiar with, the 9A1000 is a general-purpose graphics processor (GPGPU). It does not focus on drawing the screen, but uses the GPU's large-scale parallel computing power to assist the CPU in distributive work, especially suitable for AI inference, scientific computing, data analysis and industrial control scenes.
According to the company's law, the 2K3000 launched in June this year has integrated the self-developed GPU IP LG200, which has certain AI reasoning capabilities and has been introduced by some customers. The 9A1000, which is about to deliver streaming, is regarded as the company's first step towards independent GPGPUs. The product focuses on low cost and only marks the AMD Radeon RX 550 in terms of graphics performance; 9A2000 and 9A3000 were planned to gradually expand the product line.
However, the outside world still has doubts about this chip. Its graphics performance is only matched by the 2017 AMD RX 550, and the technical gap is easy to see. In addition, since the software driving and eco-nation are not yet mature, even if the 9A1000 successfully completes the distillation, the actual commercial value may still be doubtful.
